Good day, I'm Ben Song from ARM.
We are semiconductor IP company.
I'm running ARM connected community (community.arm.com) in APAC (Mainly in China). We are external community mainly for marketing and customer support.
I first time know this group in Jive world 2016.
So happy can join it.
Thanks, any body has interesting in Asia and China community , please contact me.
I’m Lénaïc - aka Lenny or Nicou - and I am one of the two Community Engineers for Tableau. You will mainly see me strolling on the forums and social media for Tableau, helping out with questions, creating knowledge base articles, and developing Tableau’s community. My role is all about making the people comfortable using our products and platform!
I’m originally from France, Normandy, but I started working in Ireland in 2014 for a gaming company, mainly on social media channels, forums, and using analytics within the community; that is what caught my eye about Tableau. Indeed, I’m fond of games! Roleplay, strategy, arenas, shooter and even spatial simulation games are my main hobbies at the moment. I am a pretty big fan of the Lore into games, the stories, and can be quite nerd-y about it! When I was in France, I used to paint little figurines, play tennis, badminton, ping pong, and I also used to sing a lot rock and metal songs… unfortunately, as I had to move, it is now harder to practice these hobbies.
When I was a student, I used to study chemistry. I also spent many years on physics, electricity, optical, metrology, and acoustic… however, while being very interested in these fields, my dream was to build, engage, and support my own community! Doing so, I have spent a huge amount of time into improving my Community skills and communication… which in fact paid because I am very proud of my actual career in the community/gaming/analytics field!
Fun fact about me, I told you that I love games: I have spent around 1300 hours of gameplay on a space simulation game in 2015 (called Elite: Dangerous)! It’s easy to calculate how much this does per day… while it’s not the only game I’m playing. So, indeed, I love games.
I also melt when I see bunnies, they’re so cute!
What is exciting in my new job is that I can connect with Tableau users from all around the world! In fact, we have a fantastic tool in our forums that translates everything efficiently into the language you are browsing in. If you are speaking in Norwegian, for example, I will be able to see your posts in English, or French, or whatever language I want. Therefore, every Tableau’s users are united in our forums. We are all working together to make the community a fantastic place to evolve in, in order to learn about each other’s and improve our skills using Tableau. And that is wonderful.
See you later, on the Jive forums
Nice to virtually meet you, Lenny! I'm a fan of Patrick Van Der Hyde (your boss?), who has been so gracious with his time and advice about community. I'm not a gamer, but I like stories. I may have to pick your brain about storytelling as it relates to gamification!
Hi, my name is Laura and I'm the community lead with the AgTechXChange. We are starting to make some small changes to remove barriers to participation by members, and start a regular member emails. I like connecting with members directly and using in-person events to foster online interaction.
Hi, my name is Amara Keller and I'm the Community Lead for the Trusted Analytics Platform (TAP). We are actively growing our community around support and troubleshooting of the software from deployment to actual use. It was an exciting week because two of my community members help each other with troubleshooting without someone from the internal team stepping in. Very exciting!
Hi Amara- what do you think were the top two reasons this happened? I'd love to learn what you feel worked to get those two community members there!

1. One of our users was previously engaged with someone directly on the internal team, but that team member was on vacation. The user joined the community and immediately started posting questions
2. I have a feeling this user took the time to look around the site for information. While I think he was hoping to find information to solve his problem he saw other folks asking the same questions he had asked previously.
I think overall we will see more collaboration like this because the software community in general is pretty well trained at using forums and things like Stack Overflow to solicit opinions and guidance from others.
I'd also say the biggest reason is luck, but that's not exactly helpful
That sounds like exactly how the community should work! Glad your user figured out how to use search! If only all mine did! I wish I could put a giant, blinking neon sign on the search bar! ha! :-)
Hi, I'm Geoff Davenport, Deputy Director at Community Connections for Youth (CCFY). Based in the South Bronx, CCFY is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to empower grassroots faith and neighborhood organizations to develop effective community driven alternatives to incarceration for youth.
One dimension of our strategy is to develop "learning communities" in cities/regions across the U.S. around alternatives to incarceration. We are about to launch an online version of our learning communities for partner organizations using Jive. We're very excited about where this will take our work!
As the Jive Community community manager I wanted to stop by and welcome you! I have a personal passion for using online community to create social and community change in the real world. We look forward to having your participation here in the Jive Community and if you ever need a hand, feel free to reach out. This group (Jive External Communities) is a great place to start and there are some serious experts in the group. Please keep us posted with your work, I would love to hear more about how it's going for you.
I was checking my notifications and popped here... sorry I thought I already replied to you Frank!
Yes, Patrick is my manager, he's very knowledgable
Feel free to toss as much questions as you want!
I think this point about meeting community team members in person is helpful. I want to start doing that more, though it is of course also a matter of calculating LOE for being "away" from the online community versus out and about meeting current and potential members. Unfortunately, our site is not responsive. That is definitely something I would change and urge others to automatically build their community site as being responsive.
Hi Oscar here.
I'm giving my first steps into Jive and I'm starting to see its great potential. I do appreciate the possibility of sharing ideas with external community managers.
My special thanks to Gia for setting up the group.
See you around.
